Alan Webb

This is Alan's 6th time at Prefontaine and his 7th running at Hayward Field. "You can't beat the atmosphere here. The people are really into track. There's so much tradition." Alan went on to say, "This is my favorite meet of the year."

Alan also talked about his training in Reston, VA. He continues to get stronger which is the biggest difference between the Alan of high school and the Alan of now. He discussed how he could now handle more mileage and still run fast workouts, lift more in the weight room, and do tougher intervals in training.

Bernard Lagat

Bernard talked about the race last weekend in New York. If you watched the race, you saw Webb blow by Lagat in the final 80m to win. Despite losing the race, Lagat actually gained a lot of confidence from the race. It was his first race of the season, so he felt like it put him in a great position to run fast later.

Lagat is excited about the opportunity of running for the US at the World Championships, too. He mentioned he and Alan could do very well.

Jeremy Wariner

Jeremy spoke about the mindset that he enters 200s with. The 200, as most of us know, is not his "trademark" race. However, Jeremy said that he enteres the 200 with the same confidence that he enters 400's with. "I have run 20.19, so I know I'll be in the mix." He also said that he feels very fresh and is on pace with training to break the 400m World Record of Michael Johnson's.

This is Jeremy's first Prefontaine Classic ever and he is pumped about the crowd. "The crowd's in the US aren't typically that vocal, but everything I've heard about this meet makes it have an 'overseas' feel to it."

Liu Xiang

Xiang is the World Record holder in the 110H with a 12.88. Last weekend he edged Terrance Trammell in New York, but it took an incredible effort over the last couple hurdles. Xiang seems very confident, but still is just a kid. When the athletes dismissed for their "corners", a third of the media flocked to Xiang. He is quite a story across the world.
