Johnnetta Overton was an important member of the community at Cary Academy in Cary, NC. She was a member of both the volleyball and track teams and took her academics seriously. Last year she helped her track team finish 4th at the NCISAA Championships with a 5th place finish in the discus.

"People who saw the accident told investigators that Overton's vehicle ran off the side of the road before the crash.
Police think she overcorrected while getting her vehicle back on the road and collided with the truck."
