2007 International Friendship & Freedom Games (NC A&T University) 

  • Gabby Mayo defeats Brookings of SC 11.66 to 11.69
  • Latoya James of Cummings ran 13.74 (US #8) and beat Gabby Mayo who ran 14.26
  • Southern Durham's girls roll a 4:04 in the 4x400, NC #1
  • Patience Coleman of SD jumped 5' 8"
  • Johnny Dutch ran a 53.79 in the 400mH(US #2)
  • Travis Leonard & Johnny Thomas of Greensboro Day School both jump well in HJ-6' 6" and 6' 4" respectively.
  • Scott Houston of NWG continues to shine in the PV - 15' 1"
  • Sherice Walker jumped 39' 2.50 in the TJ for the win. Jacinda Evans of So Durham leaped out to 38' and Latoya James was close behind in 37-11

 

Gray Carrington Invitational (Charlotte Latin)

  • Charlotte Latin girls and Providence Day boys win meet
  • PD boys sweep boy's 3200m run and score 31 pts. 7 runners under 11:00
  • Sarah Cline of CCDS ran 12:03 and led 4 girls under the NCRunners.com elite performance time
  • Charlotte Latin and Providence Day broke 1:50 - 1:48.02 to 1:48.55
  • PDS' girls ran 4:10.75, the fastest time in the state among private schools - they also ran 10:04 which ranks among the top 15 in the state, both solo performances
  • Ally Deaton of PD cleared 9-6 in the PV, she is 2nd in Mecklenburg County
  • PD's boys ran the fastest times among private schools in the 4x200 and 4x400 - 1:33.03 and 3:33.99
  • Latin won both 1600 SMR easily in 4:35 and 3:45
  • CLS rolls to win girls' 4x100 in 49.73 - they are defending state champs in this event

 

3rd Annual McMichael ALL Field Meet (McMichael HS)

  • Sophomore, Aaron Zukula, of East Forsyth cleared 13' 6" in the PV
  • McMichael's Isaiah Martin, a junior, continues to jump well in the LJ - 22' 3"
  • Western Guilford's girls dominate competition with 61 points, led by Dejanell Mittman's 1st places in the TJ & HJ and Crystal Webley's win in the LJ.
  • Rockingham County won the boy's, led by their throwing duo of Justin Ward & Jacob Gunn. Gunn won the discus and was 3rd in the shot (only a 9th grader), while Ward won the shot and was 2nd in the discus

 

Apex Relays (Apex HS)

  • New Bern runs US #1 in the SMR - 3:24.5
  • Very fast 100m with 5 runners hand-timed at 10.60 or better. Kelvin Hardesty (10.74c),  Daylan Williamson of Eastern Alamance (10.74c),  Phillip Hardy of SE Raleigh (10.74c), and Chris Culliver of Garner (10.84)
  • Cardinal Gibbons run state leading 4:16.40 in the 1600 . . . a HUGE PR
  • SE Raleigh boy's drop 42.24c in the 4x100, with Garner at 42.74c and New Bern ran 42.94c
  • New Bern and SE Raleigh also do battle in the 4x200 with New Bern running 1:26.80h and SE Raleigh running 1:27.20h
  • Garner, SE Raleigh, and New Bern stole the show in the sprint relays . . . New Bern won the 4x400 in 3:21, SE Raleigh was 3:23, and Garner ran 3:25 - led 8 teams under 3:30
  • New Bern just misses the 8:00 barrier in the 4x800 running 8:00.60. Cardinal Gibbons showing they are tough ran 8:10.60. Pinecrest also ran 8:10.60. 9 teams met NCRunners.com elite time of 8:30
  • Broughton throws down a very solid time of18:33.30 in the 4x1600. Not far off of them was Enloe in 18:39.90. Gibbons and Cary also broke 19:00
  • Chapel Hill went 10:25.30, one of the better DMR's run this year. 4 teams went under 11:00.
  • Derrick Ross of Union Pines cleared 6-8 in the HJ and Austin Davis, TJ National Champ, jumped 6' 6". Garner's Joshua Brooks also cleared 6' 6"
  • Austin Davis soared to 23' 4.75" and 48' 5.50" in the LJ and TJ. Ravon Bell of Harnett Central continues to impress in the TJ as well with a 45' 4.75"
  • New Bern wins with 63.50 pts., SE Raleigh 2nd with 51
  • Christy Johnson, UNC signee, ran 12.04c
  • Her teammate, Callan Fike, BARELY missed breaking 5:00. She ran 5:00.10. Not far behind her was Heather Beichner of Gibbons in 5:03, Andie Cozzarelli of Apex in 5:04 and Marley Burns of Carolina Day in 5:10. This may have been the fastest 1600 in recent NC history.
  • E.E. Smith continues to roll in the 4x200 clocking a hand-timed 1:44.00. SE Raleigh was 2nd in 1:45.60 with Leesviell Rd. also in 1:45.60. 8 teams met the NCRunners.com elite mark
  • Southern Durham had the fastest time for an hour or two, but Athens Drive ran 4:03.70 in the 4x400. Sanderson also ran well, 4:04.80. Apex and SE Raleigh were also under 4:10.
  • There was quite a battle in the 4x800 as 5 teams were separated by 9 seconds. Gibbons won in 10:00.70. Chapel Hill was 2nd, Leesville Rd. 3rd, Cary 4th, and Pinecrest 5th.
  • Impressive 4x1600's as 7 teams broke 23:00 and 5:45 pace. Pinecrest won in 22:20.90 with Gibbons in 2nd at 22:22.30.
  • Athens Drive ran a very impressive 1:48.50 in the SMR. SE Raleigh wasn't far behind, in 1:50.50.
  • Green Hope won the DMR in 13:00.90. Pinecrest and Cary Academy were close in 13:0420 and 13:05.90.
  • Northern Durham's Jessica Johnson cleared 5' 6" in the HJ
  • 7 girls went over 8' 6" with Karen Kazaglis of Green Hope winning with an impressive 10' vault
  • SE Raleigh's Chishawn Williams, who was impressive indoors, jumped 18' 8" and 37' 8.75"

 

51st Queen City Relays (Myers Park HS)

  • 7 male hurdlers broke 40 sec. in the 300H . . . Butler's Spencer Adams won in 37.45 with Reynolds' Charlton Rolle running 37.70
  • Shanice Jones of Reynolds led the field in the girl's 300H in 45.45. 7 ladies met the elite performance standard for NCRunners
  • Soph. Allison Hofmann who broke 19:00 during the XC season ran a very impressive 11:21.36. Amy Neilson of Vance is having a breakthrough season and was only 2 sec. back in 11:23.10
  • Jonathan Sunde of Catholic defeated a solid field in the 3200m. He ran 9:36.52. John Stevens of RJ Reynolds was probably the biggest surprise in 9:47, finishing 3rd
  • Gabby Glenn of Providence held her own despite the talk that Nyosha Bryant of Harding was going to pull the upset. Gabby ran 11.68 to Nyosha's 11.97
  • Trenton Guy Jr. won the 100m in 10.69
  • 3 new sub-10:00 teams on the season for the girl's 4x800: Providence won in 9:50, Catholic was 9:56 and MP also ran 9:56. South Meck was also in the mix in 10:00
  • Providence's boys, indoor champs in the 4x800, ran an impressive 8:04 . . . Watauga and Mooresville both broke 8:20
  • Harding's girls run 48.29 in the 4x100, 1:44.92 in the 4x200, & 4:06.39 in the 4x400
  • West Charlotte continues to ROLL in the 4x100, running 41.84. Butler also ran an impressive time of 42.17. Carver was the only other team to crack 43 seconds
  • Hopewell's girls run the fastest SMR of the season with a 4:20.18
  • West Charlotte rolled to a big victory in the SMR running 3:35.88 - They also ran 3:24 in the 4x400 for the win
  • Indpendence, Parkland, Providence, Reynolds, Ashbrook all broke 3:30 in the 4x400
  • 3 guys threw over 51 feet in the SP, GREAT competition. Jake Deaton of Mooresville won with a 51-9, MP's John Sabacinski threw 51-1, and Giavonni Scott of Ardrey Kell threw 51-.50
  • Halvorson of Butler and Brown of Watauga looked to have a good comp. in the girl's discus - 135-03 to 128-11 --- Aslynn also won the shot with a throw of 39-6
  • Jamel Allison of Mooresville won the LJ by 1/2 inch over Andre Stevenson of West Mecklenburg - 22' 3.5" to 22' 3" --- Phillip Bush of North Rowan also was over 22'
  • Sabacinski of MP came back after his 2nd in the shot put and won the discus with a 145-00. Jake Deaton was 2nd here with a 141-08
  • Mooresville's Jamel Allison also won the TJ with a solid jump of 46-05 -- Ashton Forest of Independence jumped 45'
  • Harding's Ranae Nelson, one of the countries best indoors, jumped 18-9 in the LJ to win by almost a foot over Ashlynn Chavis of Scotland County
  • Stephen Hodapp of Butler, only a soph., cleared 13-8 in the boy's pole vault competition

 

2007 Frosh/Soph Invitational (North Forsyth)

  • South View's girls and boys won the meet.
  • TIMES ARE HAND-TIMED
  • So. Amanda Jones of East Forsyth ran 2:21.9 to win the 800.
  • Farmville's Crystal Smith cracked 60 seconds with a 58.6 clocking
  • North Davidson's girls won the 4x1 with an impressive 51.4
  • South View's girls won the 4x2 with a very fast 1:48.6 - solid for the youngsters
  • Landon Powell of North Davidson won both the 100 and 200 - 11.0 and 22.2
  • South View soph, Chris Devalle, ran 50.4
  • Fr. Patrick Crawford ran 10:05.8 in the 3200m, 36 sec. ahead of 2nd place
  • Aaron Holmes of SV won the 110h and the 300h - 16.0 and 42.3
  • The boy's PV was great, two guys went 14' - Fr. Maverick Miles won and East Forsyth's soph. was 2nd
  • Farmville took 1st and 2nd in both the SP and D - Ninth graders Nolan Cobb and Skylar Rowels threw 40 and 39' in the shot ---- Emmanuel Cox and Eric Griffin in the discus with 148-11 and 122

 

Times-New Invitational (Polk County)

  • Forsyth Country Day sweeps event
  • Lindsay Pate of West Henderson won both the shot put and the discus
  • Carrie Long of Franklin clears 11' 10" in the PV.
  • #1 ranked 1A girls team Swain County looks good and proves ranking, Swain County's boys finish 2nd and also look very good, will certainly move up in the rankings
  • Joule Breedlove of Swain County runs 47.74 to win 300mH.
  • Megan Cook of Swain won the 200 in 26.94
  • Lincolnton's Morgan Turner won the 3200 and 1600, 12:07 and 5:40
  • Swain dips under 4:20 and NCRunners.com's elite time in the 4x400
  • Two big throws in the shot put. Justin Carlson of Pok County with a 51-3.50 and his teammate, Regis Bittle threw 50-06.00. They must grow them big and strong in Polk!
  • FCDS' Joel Short won the PV with a clearance of 12-6
  • Franklin ran 8:22.14 in the 4x800 to win by 14 seconds
  • Brevard's Frankie Waters runs under 15.00, 14.76 for win in the 110H
  • Hunter Furr won the 100 and 200 with times of 10.95 & 22.20
  • Daniel Hamilton of Franklin won the 1600 in 4:31.54
  • Swain County's Lindsay Hunt won the 300mH with a solid time of 40.56
  • Franklin's Justin Williams broke the magical 2:00 barrier in the 800 with a time of 1:59.89

 

44th Volunteer Outdoor Classic (University of Tenn.) 

  • Ryan Hill begins to show what he's made of after a FL National birth in XC with a 9:10.73 win in the 3200 - He then ran a 6 seconds PR in teh 1600 with a 4:19.10
  • Freshman John Harwell, Nike Indoor Freshman Mile Champ, ran 4:32.27 in the 1600
  • Rett English, the state champ among private schoolers, ran 9:45.67 for 8th place
  • McDowell's duo of Andre Conley and Izzy Swepson went 2, 3 in the boy's triple jump, both jumping over 44' 5"
  • Michael Wilson of AC Reynolds and Kent England of Asheville continue to do battel in the pole vault as they have all season long . . . Michael won the event with a vault of 14'6 and Kent finished in 2nd place just 6 inches behind
  • Sophia Treakle of Asheville was 4th in the 100h in 15.43 and 4th in the 300h - 45.94
  • Garner's Booker Nunley won the 110HH in 14.22 and finished 2nd in the 300h - 37.99
  • Taylor Dewberry qualified for the finals in the 200 and 400 - she's only a freshman at Mt. Tabor. She ran 26.00 in the 200 prelims and 56.95
  • Garner's Malcom Nunley was 5th in the 400m - fastest time was 51.60 in the prelims
  • Asheville's boys ran 8:15.44 in the 4x800 for 4th place
  • West Stoke's Drew Tucker finished 3rd in the 800 with a time of 1:54.77
  • Izzy Swepson of McDowell defeated Asheville's Isaiah Thompson in the LJ for 1st and 2nd - 21-2.75 and 21.25
  • Sarah Hensley of Madison finished 6th with a 35-3 shot
  • Asheville's boys finished7th overall, McDowell was 9th and Garner was 12th
