The New Balance Collegiate Games are this weekend at the New York Armory. Three NC high school athletes have been asked to compete in the Jr. competition held today.
Trenton Guy Jr. of West Charlotte will competing in the boys 300m dash. Right now, Trenton has the #1 time in the US in the 55m dash and the #2 time in the 300m. Is only loss this season came at the hands of Virginia native, Sean Holston, last weekend in Blacksburg, VA at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Guy will look to right the wrong here and attempt to go under 34 seconds. Right now his best is 34.17.
Joining him in the 300m dash will be Antonio Sales of East Chapel Hill. Antonio ran 35.07 at the Eastern HS Challenge, losing to Guy by only 8 hundredths of a second.
In the boy's 1000m race, Lamarr Davis of East Wake will be racing many of the nations' best middle distance runners. LaMarr has the 2nd best 500m time in the country, but he is yet to run 1000m. It will be interesting to see where his fitness is right now. Lamarr is the #2 returning 800m runner outdoors in the entire country. He will be up against Matt Cenrtowitz who just ran 4:10 in the Armory, Axel Mostrag who has run 4:17 on a slow track and has run 1:51, and Lionel Williams who has the fastest 1000m time in the country this season.
