Important NC performances to take note of:
National Record and US #1's
* Johnny Dutch, Clayton HS, set a new National Record in the 55mh. His time of 7.07 broke the old record by .01.
"I have been working on my starts a lot, as my coach and I felt it was my weakest area. I guess I can say that practice makes perfect."
* Trenton Guy, Jr. of West Charlotte ran a new US #1 in the 55m dash. Trenton bettered the previous best by .03.
* Harding's, Kamorean Hayes, shot putted herself to the top spot in the United States with a throw of 49' 2.25".
* Southeast Raleigh's, Gabby Mayo, ran a US #1 time of 6.90 in the 55m. Her time bettered the previous best by 3 hundredths of a second.
* Ebonie Cunnigham, also of Southeast Raleigh, became the 1st female to crack 1:15:00 in the 500m. Ebonie ran 1:14.98 to take over the US #1 spot.
Other top US Marks
* Edward Alexander of West Charlotte moved into the #3 spot in the 55m dash. He ran a very fast time of 6.36 in the finals.
* LaMarr Davis, East Wake, ran 1:04.85 in the 500m dash to claim the #2 time posted in the US this season.
* Northern Durham's, Austin Davis, improved on his US #3 mark in the triple jump. He jumped out to 47' 11.50.
* Gabrielle Glenn of Providence HS had an excellent meet. She ran US #6 times in both the 55m dash and 300m dash. Her times were 7.01 and 40.42.
* Southern Durham's Patience Coleman cleared 5' 8" in the high jump to move her into a 3-way tie for 2nd in the United States.
NOTE: Other NC athletes may have run top 10 performances as well, but with many meets today around the country . . . we'll wait and see.
New Meet Records
* Gabby Mayo's US #1 in the 55m dash was also a new meet record.
* Lia Divalentin of Chantilly (VA) ran 10:49.11 in the 3200m to set a new meet record. Her time was the US #1 for a night.
* Ashley Gatling of Deep Creek (VA) and Patience Coleman tied the high jump meet record of 5' 8". The previous record holder . . . Patience Coleman.
* Joanna Wright of RJ Reynolds set a new mark in the pole vault with a clearance of 11' 6".
* Radiance Basden of Western Guilford jumped 38' 7" in the triple jump. Her jump led 3 girls over the previous mark.
* Kamorean Hayes of Harding broke her own meet record in the shot put with her US #1 mark.
* Trenton Guy, Jr. of West Charlotte broke the meet record in the 300m dash with a time of 34.99.
* LaMarr Davis of East Wake blasted the old meet record by almost 1 second in the 500m dash, 1:04.85.
* Johnny Dutch, Clayton, broke his own meet record with his new National Record.
* Frede Spellman of Oscar Smith (VA) broke the old record in the shot put. He threw 58' 10.25.
