After a hiatus in 2013, the outdoor track and cross country meets are back, providing NC athletes with top competition.
NCRunners is proud to announce that the Elite Invitationals are back in 2014! The meets have provided top-flight competition in past years, but a series of conflicts and time constraints caused them to be put on the shelf in 2013. Both the invitationals - one in outdoor track season and one during cross country season - will feature three levels of competition:
-
Elite Events: selected events that are invitation only, pitting North Carolina's best against out-of-state competition.
-
The Frosh/Soph Invitational: a complete schedule of events with a championship atmosphere for 9th- and 10th-grade athletes that might not get to participate in their school's postseason.
-
Open events: selected events for juniors and seniors that are not invited for the Elite Events.
It is our hope that we will be able to hold the meets annually for the indefinite future, making them an exciting part of the fall and spring calendars every year. We also hope to offer exclusive NCRunners Elite gear (shirts, hats, etc.) that you can only get at one of these meets. All proceeds from these meets are put back into the coverage of our sport, which makes for a double benefit for the athletes and schools that support the events. Stay tuned to NCRunners for updated information as track season progresses!
