Nike Cross Nationals Southeast

(Saturday, WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary)

The Meet

Nike Cross Nationals, formerly known as Nike Team Nationals, first came into being in 2004. For the first three years, the teams participating in the national meet were selected by invitation, through a system of rankings prepared for each region. In 2007, Nike expanded to the current nine regions (New York and California each have their own), and they installed qualifying meets in all of the regions except California. The 2007 NXN Southeast was held in Hoover, Alabama, and the next year the meet moved to its current home at WakeMed Soccer Park. The top two teams from this meet automatically advance to the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon; the NXN folks also select four at-large teams that can come from any region. In addition, the top five individuals from each regional that are not on one of the advancing teams will also qualify for trips to the west coast. NXN Southeast is an extremely competitive team event with a tremendous atmosphere, and the wide, smooth trails at WakeMed will help produce fast times.
