With NCHSAA regional registration ending soon the number of teams that will advance to the state meet will be unsure for most coaches. This summer the NCHSAA changed the qualifying process to be from the top 4 teams per region to the top 25% of teams in each region advancing to states. Top qualify as a "team" a school must have 5 athletes registered for the event.
We used out database to estimate how many teams in every region for both Boys and Girls have had 5 qualifying athletes race to this point in the season. Note that not every school sends in results, so we also grabbed schools that have at least one runner race this season with results in our system.
Below are our calculations of how many teams will advance to the NCHSAA State Championships out of each region. Again, these are only estimates based off our calculations. We will release the official advancers number from the NCHSAA after the reporting deadline has concluded. The column titled "Rounded Up" is our total estimate of teams that will advance.
