Lane, Mareno make trip to Boston to race the Junior Mile at the New Balance Grand Prix

Connor Lane shocked himself at the end of the 2016 Outdoor track season when he beat his middle distance oriented teammate, Connor Peeples, in a Mile at the NCRunners Tune-Up.  After a strong cross country season where he took 8th at Foot Locker Nationals, he looks to kick off indoor season with a strong Mile debut.  The race will certainly be fast up front with DJ Principe running a 4:00.97 just a week ago.  Lane will look to take down Kenny Kneisel's North Carolina Indoor State Record of 4:10.24 that was set last season.

Lane becomes the 4th North Carolina boy to make this historic field joining Craig Engels (Reagan) who won the race in 2012 in 4:13.70, Thomas Graham (Cary Academy) who took 3rd in 2012 4:14.75, and Blake Williams (Northern Durham) who took 8th in 2011 in 4:20.93.
