Meet Preview: NCISAA State Championships, 6 athletes look to defend their titles Friday at Hagan Stone

NCISAA 1A Girls

This race has no clear favorite according to our virtual meet as defending champion Anne Cunningham comes in at 4th on the season.  Last year it was Morgan Lane (Community Christian) who took the pace out hard, but faded to 3rd as Woodlawn girls surged for a 1-2 finish. This year, Lane comes in as the only girl who has broken 22 with her 21:50.  Sarah Roseman (University Christian) and Gray Young (Wayne Country Day) have improved drastically this season and will hope to continue that pattern this weekend.  Both have run times over 2 minutes faster than they did at last years state meet.

Graduation hit defending champs Woodlawn School hard as they lost their #2 Bella Jacoby.  University Christian comes in as the favorites scoring 17 points in our virtual meet, with Hickory Christian and Woodlawn trailing them. They have 5 strong runners that will make them difficult to be beat on Friday
