Boys 100

The 17-18 Boys 100 is loaded! Michael Davenport (Platinum Sports) leads the field with a best mark of 10.53, Cameron Millingan (Track EC) had a very strong senior season for Fuquay Varina running 10.58 and has run in the 10.7s already this summer season. Josh Polk won a state title in his sophomore season for Hobbton in the 200 along with a podium finish in the 100. He's run 10.70 this year for the 100 and will be a force to reckon with.  A big name down the entries a little ways is Chantz Sawyers, who is more known for his 200/400s, but is more than capable of throwing down a fast 100. This will certainly be a difficult final to get into after you add in all the tremendous talent coming from outside the state.

Boys 200

The Boys 200 is just as loaded as the 100 with many of the boys doubling back. Davenport, Sawyers, and Polk are seeded as the top 3 in this event.  Sawyers was the state leader in NC in this event with a time of 21.26.  But his Platinum Sports teammate Michael Davenport has run 21.14 this season. Polk has focused on the 200 at the end of his season and has dipped under 22 multiple times this season.

Boys 400

Chantz Sawyers is entered in his top event where he was an All-American and has run 46.64 this season.  He's very hungry to improve on this mark.  Jalen Jones (Sandhills Track Club/Hoke County) is the NCHSAA 4A State Champion in this event and the only other boy sub 48 in the field with his 47.91.

Boys 800

Christian Pigues is a big favorite in this event.  He ran 1:53.20 a few months back which is a much faster PR than the rest of the field.  Walter Brown (Southern Guilford/GreensboroChamp) has the second best mark in the field of 1:56.26 where he finished second at the 3A State Championships.  This event should be loaded with guys that are capable of dipping under the 2:00 barrier.

Boys Discus

The state record holder Terrell Adams (Middle Creek/CarolinaAllStar) will look to throw some deep marks and dominate the field this weekend.  He comes in seeded 12 meters ahead of the second seed, but will certainly put on a clinic for all of those watching.

Boys Shot Put

Ehren Huebner (TW Andrews/Carolina Flash) eclipsed the 50 foot barrier for the first time outdoors at the 2A State Championships and will look to get back to that this weekend.  He will be joined by Jamar Plunkett (Southwest Guilford/ Panthers Elite) who has a PR of 50-10.5.

Girls 100

Tamara Clark (HP Central/High Point Heat TC) and Cambrea Sturgis(AL Brown/Salisbury Speed) will face off against a strong 100 field where they are two of the favorites to win.  Clark has dominated the NC sprints for the last two years, but Sturgis has emerged onto the elite stage towards the end of this season.  She runs 11.73 this season and will look to challenge Clark for the win, who will be looking to dip under 11.50 for the first time.  This will be a big 4A sprints matchup going into the 2017 track season.

Girls 200

Sturgis leads the field with a 23.65 PR, and if seed times are correct she should be able to dominate this field this weekend.  Mariah Slade (Salem Academy) was the NCISAA 3A runner up and has run consistently around the 24.7 range this track season.  Maya Singletary (Hoke County/SandhillsTrackClub) is coming off a strong season over 200 and 400 meters and will look to continue that this weekend?

Girls 400

Singletary will participate in her top event where she is the top seed in the event. She has a seasons best of 54.50 from the 4A State Championships and will look to improve on that mark.  Tatiana Mills (Berry Academy/HigherPowerAC) is best at the 800 but still can throw down a solid 400 and has a PR of 57.40 and is the 4th overall seed in this event.

Girls 100H

Kayla Moore (Cummings/DurhamStridersTC) is the second overall seed in this event and has a PR of 13.71, and is one of two girls in this field to have eclipsed the 14 second barrier.  We will also see Kimani Davis (Parkland/LightsOutTC) who took third at the NCHSAA 3A State Championships with a PR of 14.26.

Girls 800

Tatiana Mills and Jazzmone Boyd (High Power AC) will square off once again over 800.  Mills has a PR of 2:13 while Boyd sits at 2:15. They'll be challenged by Tiara Patterson-Mills (Tabor) who ran 2:17 this season on what has been a big year for her. Cheyenne Jones (Fuquay Varina/Carolina All Stars) has a 400 PR of 56.03, but has never put it together over 800.

Girls Long Jump

Teammates Kenyae Majors and Kayla Moore (Cummings/Durham Striders) are two of the favorites in a strong Long Jump field.  Majors was the NCHSAA 2A State Champion in this event while Moore finished 3rd. Majors has a PR of 19-1 from early this track season.  She was just off of that at the end of June where she jumped 19-.05.
