The former Cary Academy runner has made the switch to road racing, and has a coach that is well-known in North Carolina.

On Sunday, Thomas Graham (Cary Academy '12) finished 26th at the USATF Half Marathon Championships with a time of 1:03:52 (an average of 4:52 per mile). That time qualifies him for the 2016 US Olympic Trials in the Marathon, and at age 20 he was the youngest qualifier in the event, either male or female, by 2 years. Graham attends Stanford, but no longer competes for the Cardinal; instead, he has chosen to focus on the longer road races during this stage of his running career. In an interesting twist that gives this story double North Carolina roots, Graham is now coached by Chris Catton, who recently moved to Pennsylvania after a successful career coaching at Ronald Reagan High School in Pfafftown.
