The former South Mecklenburg standout, now a junior, has been running strong for Lipscomb from the beginning.
Madelin Talbert was good when she was in high school. Really good, actually - she ran 5:00 for the 1600 and 18:13 for 5K. Since heading to Lipscomb University, though, Talbert has gone to another level, setting a 5K PR of 16:39 on the track and reaching the NCAA DI Championships in the 3000 Steeplechase both of her first two years as a collegian. This past weekend she opened her fall season in Boston with a 17:50, defeating several other former NC high school runners in the process (see below). The performance earned her Atlantic Sun Conference Runner of the Week honors.
