Foot Locker South: NC Entries as of 11/24

Ian Milder's big breakthrough at this race last year makes him the top returner from North Carolina, with eyes on a trip to San Diego.

There are 488 athletes from North Carolina entered into Foot Locker South, the largest number of any participating state.  Those entries are mostly scattered over the grade-level (unseeded races), but some of the Old North State's top runners will be competing in the seeded races, and a few of our elite runners can take a shot at one of the biggest prizes in high school running: the top 10 individuals in the race get to travel to San Diego in two weekends for Foot Locker Nationals.  Last year, North Carolina came up just short, with Bakri Abushouk and Alana Hadley both finishing 11th, after sending four athletes in each of the prior two years.  The last time that North Carolina failed to qualify a single athlete to nationals, before 2012, was 1995; two years without a qualifier would be unprecedented.  Luckily, our state has an excellent group of top-notch runners ready to bring their best and prevent that from happening.
