NCHSAA 4A East Regional Moved to South View
By Jesse L. Autry, South View
Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Hope Mills - The NCHSAA has announced that the cross country 4A Eastern Regional has been moved to South View High School in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Construction and scheduling conflicts at UNC-Wilmington made the move a necessity. Although South View will set-up the course and assist with the meet, Hoggard and Laney High Schools will still serve as hosts. All administrative questions should be directed toward Billy Mason (Hoggard) at Billy.Mason@nhcs.net. All questions in reference to the course should be directed toward Jesse L. Autry (South View) at coachjesseautry@yahoo.com.

The course is 5000 meters long, but very spectator friendly. It is a combination of grass and dirt trails throughout the athletic fields and woods of the South View campus. After the first 200 meters, there is a very sharp left turn that athletes should be aware of. The course has some very sandy spots and athletes will cross a concrete sidewalk twice. The last 380 meters is in the football stadium. The athletes will enter the stadium and have a choice to run on the asphalt or interior grass of the track for 250 meters. The last 80 meters is the grass straightaway along the home side of the football/soccer field. The course is 5000 meters long. Outside of the Jungle Run Night-Time Meet, the seasons best time for girls was 20:50.76 by Trey Lesane of Terry Sanford on October 5th. On that same day, the boys best time was run by Phillip Hall of Terry Sanford, who ran a 17:02.67.

The course can be previewed on Thursday and Friday, October 27-26 from 3:30-6:30pm. If you want to see it on Thursday, just email Coach Autry to let him know you plan to come.
