High Country Classic (State Farm Fields, Boone, NC)

Open Race - 9:00. Middle School Race 9:40. JV boys - 10:30 am. Varsity girls - 11:00. JV girls - 10:00 am. Varsity boys - 11:30.
Entry Fees: $10/athlete, $50/team, $85 for boys and girls teams. Varsity races are limited to 7 runners. Middle school runners are free. Fees due by Tuesday, September 20th, 2011. Make checks to Watauga Cross Country and mail to Randy McDonough, Hardin Park School, 361 Jefferson Road, Boone NC 28607.
Athlete Entry: Entries will be taken through the MileSplit Network. Find our meet on the NCRunners.com calendar page and click Online Entry. Entries are due by midnight, September 21st, 2011.
Awards: Trophies to top 3 teams in varsity races and first place team in JV races. Medals awarded to top 20 individuals in all races. Sanction: Bordering States only, SC, TN, VA, GA.
Lodging: Log cabin rental rates are cheaper than hotel rates. If you are staying for the full weekend log cabins for two nights are much cheaper than hotels. Make your team's trip a true High Country experience. There is an ASU home football game this weekend so get your rooms early.
Course: Course is 70% grass, 30% smooth trail with four wooden bridge crossings. Course is almost completely flat with one hill at halfway.
Location: Boone is 90 minutes from Winston-Salem, 2 hours from Charlotte and 80 minutes from Johnson City, TN. Excellent Sunday long-run possibilities on the 26 miles of carriage trails surrounding Moses Cone Manor. Average high temperatures for Boone in late September are the low 70's.
