White Clears 4.00 at World Youth

Sydney White (East Forsyth) made it past a major international milestone in the pole vault today, clearing 4.00m (13' 1.5") to finish in 8th place at the World Youth Games in Lille, France.  The mark improves her standing as North Carolina's best female vaulter ever, as it betters her previous PR of 13'.

Todd Gurley II (Tarboro) advanced to the semifinals in the 110 hurdles at the World Youth Games in Lille, France.  His time of 13.86 is a personal best, but does not qualify for our rankings because they are using 36" hurdles instead of the American standard of 39".  His run ended in the semifinals with a 14.10 clocking that did not advance him to the finals.
