UPDATED: NCHSAA 2A Highlights

The 2A state meet was as impressive as any of the championships I've been to this year!  The heat of the day seemed to boost the sprinters, and the distance runners were able to shake it off to perform extremely well.

Girls

Team Champion: Carrboro

Team Runner-Up: Salisbury

MVP: Marissa Bellamy, Bunn

100 Dash: 11.91, 1st

200 Dash: 24.39, 1st

400 Dash: 56.47, 1st

4x400: 4:10.90, 2nd

Other top performers:

Nora McKiver (T. W. Andrews) double hurdles win: 14.60 for 100H, 43.69 for 300H (2A State Meet Record, NC #)

Alisha Bradshaw (Salisbury) double throws win: 39' 7" for shot put, 119' 10" for discus.

Grace Morken (Carrboro) double distance win: 5:13.09 for 1600, 2:19.27 (her teammates ran 9:49 for 4x800 without her!)

Cheyenne Miller (East Rutherford) sets new 2A State Meet Record of 5' 7" in high jump, also second in triple jump.

Francesca Evans (Cummings) wins triple jump, 2nd in 100H and 300H.

Paisley Simmons (T. W. Andrews) extremely close 2nd to Bellamy in 100 and 200, wind-aided 11.84 in 100 prelims.

Adam Manns (Draughn) double throws win: 52' 5.25" for shot put, 167' 0" for discus.

Kedrick Davis (Berry): 10.47 100m Dash (2A State Meet Record), also 3rd in 200m Dash

Tevin Hester (Granville Central) close 2nd in both 100 and 200
