Boys 800m
Giovanni Rincon (Crain's Creek) was in the slow section for the 1600, but after his solo 4:45 we had to get him in the fast section for the 800. Rincon said prior to the race that his PR was 2:06 in the 800, which made him a major favorite in the event.
Rincon took out the pace hard running immediately to the front of the pack. Abdi Green (Brevard) was the only athlete to be in contention as Rincon crossed the 400 mark in around 60 seconds. Rincon continued to pull away from Green over the final 400 and was flying down the homestretch as he crossed the line in 2:05.20! Green held off Gage Austin (Cuthbertson) for 2nd in 2:15.70. Rincon certainly left his mark on the track this weekend, and say he hopes to try and break 2 minutes over the summer as he runs for Franklin Elite.
