17 Events to Watch at the NCRunners Holiday Invitational

Boys 55 Dash

This race features some of the best senior talent North Carolina has to offer! The #1 indoor time in the state currently belongs to Bryson Godfrey (Alexander Central). He will take on the #1 and #2 returner from last year's indoor season, Brandon Ray (Unattached) and Van Gupton (Rolesville), as well as Hobbton's Josh Polk (the #5 returner). Throw in relative newcomer Mashion Powell (Reagan), who ran 6.47 outdoors under FAT, and James Maye (Rocky River), the #6 returner from 2017, and you have six guys with legit sub-6.50 credentials.  Ray holds the fastest PR of 6.36!

Girls 55 Dash

You can't get more evenly matched than Cambrea Sturgis and Jordan Sales - both ran 7.08 last winter (in fact at this very meet). It's also a matchup of senior (Sturgis) and sophomore (Sales), in a way representing the present and the future. They won't be able to focus solely on each other, though, not with Nicole Barnes (TW Andrews) and Nia Judkins (Athens Drive) also in the race; those two are currently #1 and #2 in the state for indoor times. Speaking of young talent, keep an eye on Ariana Richardson from Clover SC, who clocked 12.36 as an 8th-grader last year.
