First Flight boys have been dominant in the East Region over the last year, but now they look to take it to the state level. They won the East Region last year with a dominant 39 team points and look to be big time favorites once again this weekend.
Last weekend they proved they were the real deal earning a massive Bo Run victory lead by Skylar Stultz taking home the individual crown. First Flight scored 5 boys in the top 13 and won the meet with 33 points over D.H. Conley with 82 points.

Since the NCHSAA 2A began having it's own XC State Championship in 1997 no team out of the East Region has ever won the team title. Currently First Flight ranks 2nd in 2A behind North Lincoln, though First Flight hasn't really run on courses that have been historically fast. First Flight's top 7 is currently composed of three seniors, three sophomores, and one freshman. And though they'll take a decent hit with graduation this spring, I think the Nighthawk's are a team that'll contend in 2A even beyond this XC season.
