Last November, Trentavis Friday announced he would be leaving Florida State and turn pro with sponsorship by Xtep and would be trained by training with Coach Valentino Sykes, his high school coach.
After his first year as a professional Friday has decided to take an alternative route in his coaching and sponsorship. Starting in December Friday has been a Nike sponsored athlete and is now being coached by Dennis Mitchell in Orlando, Florida. Mitchell himself is a former US Olympian and former US Relays coach and currently coaches 2016 Olympian Tyson Gay.
Due to a later coaching transition and getting used to a new training system and environment Friday said he will most likely train through the indoor season.
Friday is the current North Carolina 100m State Record holder and US National Record holder in wind legal conditions with his 10.00 from 2014 US Junior Nationals. Last summer Friday competed in the US Olympic Trials in both the 100 and 200 where he did not advance to the finals.
