Performance List

Boys 800

4A State Champion Jayquan Williams (Green Hope) will look to improve on his 1:51.46 from two weeks ago and continue his undefeated season in the event. 3rd place finisher in the 4A State meet Marquise McGee (Vance) was in shock after his 1:53 performance at the state meet.  The future Aggie will look to prove that his 3rd place finish was no fluke.  We also will see a trio of 400 meter state champions look to up their distance and run a fast 400.  Rj Russell (Richlands) has thrown down epic 4x800 splits all season long, hasn't run a fast open 800 this year.  But he split 1:53 during the 3A State Championships on the 4x8 while running all by himself.  I'd expect him to challenge Williams for the win.  The 200 and 400 meter state leader Chantz Sawyers (High Point Christian) is slated to run the 800 tomorrow.  There is no telling what Sawyers potential is in an 800, but if you base it off his 200 and 400 seasons best...look out. Also, South Carolina 400m state champion Davonte Fuller (Stratford) has seasons bests of 10.90,22.33, 48.28, and 1:56 this year, as he looks to meet his potential over 800. Christian Pigues (Trinity Academy), NCISAA 1A/2A State Champion has run 1:56 this season and will look to challenge up front as well. And then you have your sophomore teammates Ian Delgado and Matthew Kehn (Green Hope) who seem to improve every time they step on the track.  Delgado finished 5th at the 4A State meet and Kehn lead off Green Hopes state record 4x800 in 1:55.  This will certainly be the event of the evening!

Girls 800

Laurie Barton (Daniel) set her PR in her victory at the Border Clash last year of 2:08.9, she will be challenged by state runner up G'Jasmyne Butler (Leesville Road) who has run 2:10 in her last two attempts, as she looks to break that barrier.  Tatiana Mills (Berry Academy) finished 4th in this event last year setting her PR of 2:15.42.  Anna Passannante (Chapel Hill) didn't have the state championship she was hoping for as she narrowly lost to Anna Vess at NCHSAA 3A, but set a new PR of 2:13.84 and will look to improve on that tomorrow.  Jena Metwalli (Cannon School) and Melissa Zammitti (Davidson Day) were state champions of the NCISAA 3A and 1A/2A state meets respectively and will look to see who is the top 800 girl in NCISAA.

Boys Sprints

100

Kadarius Lotharp (Sun Valley/Tec) walked away shocked by finishing 4th in the 3A 100 final and will look to avenge that defeat against some strong competition.  Daniel Estrada (Northwest Guilford/Platinum Sports) is coming off a big win at Golden South last weekend where her ran 10.55 to qualify for Brooks PR. He narrowly lost to Cravont Charleston at the 4A State meet where he set a PR of 10.40 finishing 2nd.  He will go against Michael Davenport (Platinum/Woodberry Forest) who won both the 100 and 200 at the VISAA State Championships and has PRs of 10.53 and 21.14.

200

Davenport and Estrada will double back from the 100 and will compete in a loaded 200 field.  State leader Chantz Sawyers (High Point Christian) finds himself in a weird place as he doesn't hold the fastest PR in the field with Davenports 21.14.  Sawyer ran 21.26 two weekends ago and will be heavily challenged for the win here.  Dylan Peebles (Wakefield) has been sidelined since the indoor season, but looks like he is ready to run again as he is entered in this field.  Peebles ran 21.30 last season.  Myles Breedlove (West Charlotte) who is a 400 meter specialist PRed in a 4th place finish at the 4A state meet running 48.86, will look to lower his 22.03 season best 200 time. Hobbton Sophomore and 1A State Champ Josh Polk will look to improve on his 21.82 performance from two weekends ago.

Girls Sprints

Lauren White (Rolesville) is your state leader over 100 meters and has run 24.19 this season as she headlines the sprint field after finishing 2nd and 5th at the 4A State meet in the 100 & 200 respectively.  Mariah Slade (Platinum Sports) and Imagine Patterson (Summerville, SC) will look to challenge White and both have PRs under 24.50.

Girls Mile

Brittany Stanley (Mount Pleasant) was very impressive at the NCHSAA 2A State meet where she won the 1600 & 800 setting new PRs in both.  She will be challenged by Cate Ambrose (Riverside, SC) who is the 1600 state champion in South Carolina where she had a massive PR running 5:02.  You also have Taylor Delaney, who normally focuses on the 800, going up in distance. Delaney has a 5:05 1600 PR from two years ago.  She ran 2:13 to finish 3rd at the 4A State Meet so is definitely capable of throwing down a fast mile. Kate Sanborn (Pinecrest) will look to dip under the 5 minute barrier in her last her last high school race. She ran 5:06 three weeks ago winning her regional meet and will look to improve on that.

Boys Mile

Connor Peeples (Cardinal Gibbons) comes in as the favorite with his 4:16 PR and strong foot speed over the last 100 meters.  He will be challenged by Paul Arredondo (Cape Fear), 4A Indoor 1600 runner-up, and Noah Graham(Brevard) who won the NCHSAA 2A 1600 and 3200 state title two weeks ago.  Peeples teammate Connor Lane (Cardinal Gibbons) had an epic finish in the 3200 and ran 9:06 to win the NCHSAA 4A state title. If Lane can run a mile of the same caliber I'd expect a big PR for him.  NCISAA 1A/2A star Quinn Schneider (Woodlawn School) threw down a 4:24 earlier this season.  He doesn't always run against big competition, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him rise to the occasion tomorrow.  Zach Marchinko (Jesse Carson) finished 3rd for NCHSAA 3A and has a better finishing speed than you'd think, so don't count him out if he's there over the last 100.

Girls Hurdles

You're certainly on for a show if you've never seen Providence Day's Anna Cockrell run.  She's extremely smooth over the hurdles and currently ranks US #1 in the 300H and US#9 for 100H.

Boys Pole Vault

Marvin Ridge teammates Bailey Frederick and Carter Clasper will look to soar to new heights on their home track.  Frederick is your state leader and 3A State champ with a jump of 16-1, and has ultimate goals of surpassing the 5 meter mark this season.  Clasper won indoors and finished second to Frederick outdoors and holds a PR of 15-2.

Girls High Jump

State leader and 4A State champ Kenya Livingston (Rocky River) will see if she can surpass her season best jump of 5-10 as she gears up for nationals in her sophomore campaign.
