Girls XC Preseason Rankings: #16

NCRunners is counting down the top 25 girls teams heading into the fall season. The full rankings will be released on the first day of official practice: Friday, August 1st. These are subjective rankings (not computer generated); they take into account returning team rankings, returning team averages, team rankings in the 1600 and 3200 from indoor and outdoor track, and a school's "Improvement Rating." Improvement Rating is a custom metric developed by researching the improvement in a team's 5-person average from year to year, in comparison to that same team's ranking. Improvement Rating numbers and methodology will be released on the weekend of August 2nd.

Maddy Ringenbach leads a Ravenscroft team that is always in contention for an NCISAA trophy, but the data on this team is thin.

 4) Lizzy Micyus 20:30.23 222
 5) Bella Church 20:39.66 255
 Average Time: 20:06.58 Total Time: 1:40:32.89 1-5 Split: 1:53.66
 6) Chloe Mikles 21:03.80 318
 7) Sidnie Vinson 21:43.33 460

Another difficult team to rank. Ravenscroft has been extremely successful in NCISAA competition over the last several years, winning the 2011 title and finishing in the top 4 every year since 2009. The Ravens have done that without the help of the Frazier sisters, who have both run unattached during the fall for reasons too numerous to discuss here (the exception was 2009, Wesley's freshman year and the only year she competed for her school in the fall). This team is projected as second-best in the NCISAA for the upcoming season, and should be the class of the TISAC. On the other hand, the results from track season were very thin, as there weren't enough returning runners posting 1600 or 3200 times to even rank Ravenscroft as a team in those events. Maddy Ringenbach continues to develop, running 5:12 and 11:06 this spring, and she will be a contender for the individual title at her state meet this fall. With so few track results, it's hard to evaluate the team's improvement, but the recent track record is solid. This ranking is based mostly off of those results from past seasons; the Ravens have shown they can develop depth from year to year, and we expect the same to happen for 2014. This is a young team, with only one senior among the projected top 7 (the #4 runner), so a strong finish this year could be the springboard to a title run next year.
