Trentavis Friday Left Off Relay Pool for World Juniors?

While he will compete in the 200, the new national record holder in the 100 is not listed as one of the relay candidates on the official roster.

USATF released the official roster for World Juniors yesterday, and it came with some surprises.  The biggest of them for North Carolina folks was the omission of Trentavis Friday from the 4x100 relay pool.  Friday set a new national record of 10.00 in the prelims at USA Juniors, but he false-started in the finals.  It appears that USATF has taken a very literal stance on accepting the top 6 finishers in the 100 finals as the relay pool, which leaves the second-fastest junior ever in the world (Trayvon Bromell will be on the relay, and he holds the world junior record, so the top 2 junior 100 runners of all time would be on the same relay if Friday were allowed to run).  Trentavis was very diplomatic about the situation when reached for comment, indicating that he has been told there is still a possibility that he could run, and that he has faith in both USATF and in his World Juniors teammates.  If USATF sticks to their official roster, though, it could cost the USA a world record - the current junior record is 39.35, held by Jamaican school Calabar, and surely with Friday on the backstretch and Bromell on the anchor the record could stay in the US!  Maybe fans of our sport need to communicate their desire to see the best 4 sprinters run the relay in Eugene in two weekends...
