The Mitchell senior has benefited from the talent and inspiration of his teammates, but we haven't seen his best yet.

 

When I first met Brandon King, he was one of the better sophomore runners in the state, mostly specializing in the 3200.  He was part of a strong Mitchell distance squad, and he won the 1A West regional 3200 before going on to finish second at the state meet.  He was also part of a very good 4x800 through his junior year, and you can tell that he drew a lot of personal inspiration from the collective effort he shared with his teammates.  Brandon gives credit to his teammate, Zach Boone, for first inspiring him to want to get better as a runner.  Though the Mitchell junior may get more headlines, I get the sense that those roles may have switched: now it is Brandon that motivates his teammates through the dedicated example he sets.  Distance running is an area where anyone can improve with enough quality work - talent certainly helps, and Brandon has it...
