Dakota Peachee and Maraya Slatter win State Championships at North Carolina 4A indoor State Track Meet! Girls 4*800 relays place 3rd, gains all state honors


Congratulations to Dakota Peachee and Maraya Slatter for winning State championships in their respective races on Saturday at the North Carolina 4A Indoor State Track and Field Championships. Dakota dominated the boys 3200 meter run to win his 1st ever state championship and only the 3rd in West Johnston history! Maraya Slatter also captured her 1st ever state title in the 1000 meter run with an outstanding performance, and was able to become only the 4th individual state champion in Wildcat history!

The Girls 4 by 800 meter relay ran a school record of 10:01 to gain all state honors with a 3rd place finish. The team consisted of Lilly Beamon, Kelly Montague, Ashley Matthews, and Maraya Slatter. Kelly Montague ran an impressive race in the 1600 meter run to finish in 7th place, and the girls 4 by 400 meter relay was able to set a school record of 4:20 while finishing in 15th place. That team consisted of Maraya Slatter, Kelly Montague, Ashley Matthews, and Kelsie Jayne. The girls had there best team finish ever placing 8th as a team, while the boys had an all time best 16th place finish. Great Job Wildcat track athletes!
