Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep, NJ) won his second Foot Locker national title on Saturday in San Diego.
The 34th running of the Foot Locker Nationals was completed on Saturday, and although there were no North Carolina athletes in the race, it is still the concluding meet to the cross country season. Many true fans of the sport watched it live over the internet, and the crowning of the individual "national champion" is a fitting way to say goodbye to everyone's favorite fall sport (although the girls' national champion was decided last week). Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep, NJ) defended his title, while Anna Rohrer (Mishawka, IN) won her first. One point of pride that North Carolinians can draw on: the South team was first in the boys' race, while the girls finished second. Hopefully, some of our state's young, talented runners watched the race and envisioned themselves being at Balboa Park next year or sometime in the future! Check out the outstanding coverage from the MileSplit team that was on-site for the meet.
