Registration Open for NCRunners Elite Carnival

The first of three major invitationals in the 2012-2013 school year, one for each season, is coming up quickly.

The NCRunners Elite Cross Country Carnival

Featuring the Frosh/Soph Invitational...the UNOFFICIAL JV State Championship

Why Should You Attend?

  • The Course: Beeson Park has an enjoyable cross country course, with rolling, grassy hills.  It's not too flat, but also not too slow, and much of the course can be lined with spectators for extra motivation.  Also, the NCHSAA state meets are at Beeson Park, so this is the best chance to preview the course under similar competitive conditions.
  • The Competition: NCRunners tries to recruit the top teams and individuals for all the Elite Invitationals, so that you can be guaranteed to have good competition at all levels.  At our meet in the spring, we were able to showcase the top 5 girls' sprinters in the state, 4 of the top 5 hurdlers, and several of the top distance runners.
  • The Publicity: Aside from the state meets, no other cross country meet in the state will get the level of coverage that NCRunners will provide on October 13th.  There will be multiple photographers on-site, plus reporters ready to interview race winners.

Put it all together, and the NCRunners Elite events are an outstanding experience for both runners and coaches.

Format & Schedule

The meet will feature two varsity-level races, in which teams can only place their top 7 runners.  Schools will be placed into either the Championship or the Invitational division by meet management, and cannot compete in both races unless there are very unusual circumstances.  Coaches should email Jeff George (ncmilesplit@gmail.com) or Robert Youtz (rysteelers@aol.com) to request a certain placement.  Addition runners can be entered into the Open 5K race, which has unlimited entries.  If there is enough interest, a third varsity-level race will be added, and the schedule will be adjusted accordingly.

The meet also features the Frosh/Soph Invitational, the UNOFFICIAL JV State Championship, held on the same course as the NCHSAA state meets.  Each school can enter up to 10 runners per gender into this race, and it has its own team and individual awards.  Come experience the excitement and championship atmosphere of this "meet within a meet," which has become a fixture in North Carolina over the last 10 years.
