Senior Spotlight: Harvey McSwain II

The Crest senior won state championships in the 100 and 200 last spring, and he is ahead of schedule this year.

Harvey McSwain's interview is a lot like his 100 dash: fast, efficient, and impressive.  Although it's one of the shortest interviews I've recorded for a Senior Spotlight, he still gave clear answers and I learned a lot about his approach.  Harvey had a tremendous single day of competition on Saturday at the WSSU Invitational: 10.57 for the 100, a wind-aided 21.53 for the 200, and an eye-opening 48.37 in his first individual 400.  He talks in the interview about preparing to run the 4x400 for TCU next year, and you can see that he has taken that idea to heart.  Though he has battled a foot injury that has affected his training this spring, Harvey is well ahead of where he was at this time last year, and that means he is well on the way to defending his 3A titles in the 100 and 200.
