Senior Spotlight: Jamie Glenn

The Monroe senior could help her team soar to a 1A state title this spring with her versatile field event talent.

Being at the Queen City Relays last weekend gave me another chance to appreciate the versatility of Monroe's senior field event specialist, Jamie Glenn.  In addition to being a strong jumper (she is top-ranked in the 1A triple jump and second in the 1A long jump), she also throws the shot put well.  You will have to watch the video to see her explanation of how all that came about, but if you check out her numbers you can see why she is a big part of Monroe's status as 1A title favorites.  Having three strong individual events could even make her an MVP candidate, although one of her teammates might also have something to say about that (more on her later this spring).  When I talked to Jamie she was open and friendly, and she seemed like an enjoyable person to be around.  I know that soon I'm going to enter a college signing for her, and I think the school that gets her will get an athlete with a lot of upside still to show; she already has a solid start on being a heptathlete, after all.
