It says on the 4A East Region that the Team Champion was Mason Boyles and the Individual Champion was Pinecrest. Just thought I'd let you know.

bplancast Good catch! I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few other errors of that sort in the article, I was going a bit bleary-eyed by the end of it.
Are the top 5 runners at NCSSM going to run at the State meet? The only ones from the top 7 that ran at the regional were 6 and 7.
@
gvtucker Actually, none of the top 7 ran in regionals, but they will all be at states.
The runners listed #6 & #7 in the database lost out in the final coach's decision on who would run states. Runners #6 through #9 were very close together all season. Any combination of two of them would have done fine at states. He chose a senior and a junior, the two that were not chosen are both juniors and will have a shot next year. My son was in the same position last year.
It's kind of nice though that these runners (#8 through #14) can go out an win a NCHSAA regional as their consolation prize! Yes, it a pretty weak regional, but NCSSM will have all the competition they want/need come Saturday from Lake Norman Charter, Bishop Mcguinness & others.
Good luck to all!
Does anyone know the results from the 1A East Regional???
I have the 1A East Results in my email. Where should I send them to get them on the milesplit site?
I am a coach for Pamlico, by the way, so these results came directly from the regional director at Northside High School.

I've emailed the 1A East Regional results to the webmaster. Thanks for the info.
Does anyone know the 4 teams that are advancing to the 1A State Meet from the East Regional???
Pamlico, Manteo, Southwest Onslow and Lejeune.
Does anyone know when the 1A East Regional results will be posted???

dadwestbay Sorry for the delay in replying, we had a grading deadline at school this morning and I've been "off the grid." Unfortunately, I have not received results from the 1A East regional in a format that I can post. What the meet director sent out (and what was then forwarded to me) was a scanned version of the results, in a TIF picture file. In order to be able to post results, I have to be able to cut and paste from the file, which you can't do from that type of file. I will use an end-around method to get the picture of the results up, but they won't get into the database that way.
If anyone has contact with the 1A East meet director, please ask him/her to send me the actual Hy-Tek database they used (by going to "File" and then "Backup" inside the program, saving the resulting file, and then emailing it to me). I think I can fix the results problem, if I can get my hands on the database.

HWPixHend - Hi - saw your note about NCSSM. Looking for a bit of education for next year mainly. How does that work? My daughter competes in two sports in the fall, and has not been able to compete in the regionals the past 2 years because she's been in the State championship individual finals in tennis on the same day as the regionals for cross country. She got to run in XC states last year because her team qualified and held a spot for her, but this year her team did not qualify, so she can't compete at states since she wasn't there to qualify as an individual at regionals. Can you help educate me regarding the rules that allow one set of athletes to compete at regionals, and another at the state meet? I'm anticipating potentially the same conflicts with her schedule next year as well, unless NCHSAA is able to stop scheduling multiple competitions on the same day.

First, I'm a parent, not a coach, so while "reasonably" knowledgeable, I'm certainly not an expert on these things. I would think though, that, unfortunately, if the team does not qualify, there is no other way for a runner to run at states unless they qualify directly as an individual runner (the top 5, not on a qualifying team) at a regionals.
In a team set up, I understand that the coach can set up partially or totally different rosters (for any reason - out of town, injury, coach's choice, etc - the same mechanism that let your daughter run at states last year in the place of some other runner that ran for her school at regionals) from any eligible runner from the season on the team for regionals and states (coaches submit rosters to each).
Also, similar to a basketball (or most any other team sport) coach using a totally or different different starting five from a sectional game to a regional game. The difference with cross country, obviously, is that there is no mid race subbing! More specifically for your case, in cross country, there is a possibility for an individual runner to also qualify, but, again, if the team does not make it, the individual would have to run the regional and qualify on their own.
The situation with NCSSM is, obviously, very unique with the combining of the high quality of this year's team along with a fairly weak regional. But it allows for some other runners to get to enjoy some of their hard work representing their school at the regionals that would not have been able to otherwise.
Sorry, maybe others have a different idea or will correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct in your statements. Cross Country rules are kinda under the same rules of Relays in track and field. Such as uniforms and also the fact that you can win a regional with a set of 4 runners or 7 in case of cross country and move on. But you can switch that team up or replace if need be at the state meet. Its rare and a big gamble but if you have a team that can do it, you do it. The thinking is the rested top 7 will be better prepared for the state meet.
That is the plus to having a deep team. Now as far as the uniform rule for cc, its somewhat crazy with the under garment thing. first off no runner wants it to be that cold anyway and secondly most cc programs are not funded enough through the school to provide these items with the uniform so that they match. the kids have to get their own..so if it that cold and they do not all match so what. it seems to me the bigger issue that the nchsaa should have with the uniform for runners would be the ones that are wearing 50 and 60 dollar compression socks. not every runner can afford this..
