The USA Track & Field National meet kicks off today, featuring competition in two divisions: Junior (19 and under) and Open (sometimes referred to as "Senior Nationals"). The open classification is where professional athletes compete along with elite collegians, and it serves as the qualifier for the IAAF World Championship in Daegu, Korea. The junior division is composed of young college athletes (usually freshmen) and high-schoolers, and there is no World Juniors this year. North Carolina will be well-represented at the US Nationals, as you can see from the lists below.
