Coach Daric Beiter of Davie passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning. Coach Beiter began his coaching career at Davie in 1999, the same year I began at RJ Reynolds. He had an amazing impact on the Davie cross country and track programs, increasing the participation greatly and improving the competitiveness of the teams as well. He was also a great man and a great teacher: chairman of the history department, teacher of the year for his school in 2009-2010. Daric passed away on his 37th birthday.
