VA's Loss is NC's Gain!

With the amount of talent on the girls' side already in our state, it's hard to imagine adding another elite athlete to the mix.  It's happened, though: Shakeela Saunders has moved to Fayetteville and is competing for E. E. Smith!  Shakeela brings PR's of 19' 4.5" in the long jump and 40' 2.5" in the triple with her, and she's no slouch on the track, either.  Her best times of 11.85, 24.42, and 55.32 will put her right in the thick of any sprint event she chooses.  Did I mention she's a junior?

While some of our perrenially great athletes will be missing this spring, and will have an impact on regional and state competition through their absences, Shakeela will add even more star power to North Carolina over the next two years!

Here's a link to an article from Virginia's Milesplit page (Shakeela spent her first two years plus at Great Bridge HS).
