Despite taking 4th at FNL, they didn't have Walter, Priu and Todd. We'll likely see if Gibbons are the real deal this weekend. Rovnak has stepped up big and looks to be their 5th when they're at full strength.
2
They've met my expectations and then some. LaTour and Hill are stars. St. Hilaire and Castro are very strong. Once they add in frosh Leah Helms they could overtake Gibbons up front. Beat Weddington, West Forsyth & Gibbons at FNL.
3
The deepest team in NC at the moment. Top 7 were fantastic at Jungle Run, but want to see them against NC's best this weekend before bumping them up.
4
The Warriors have been impressive and were in consideration for #2 after Providence, but a loss to Cuthbertson at FNL will keep them ranked behind them for now.
5
Have had a lowkey start to the year and likely haven't been at full strength. If they add back Alessandra Rodriguez they'll move up, but lost to Weddington at FNL. Can't count them out in November though.
6
The Titans freshman live up to my preseason hype running 19:05 and 19:08 at FNL. Anderson has been big as the Titans' #3 as well. Lot of potential still.
7
The Caps were great at Jungle Run, they don't have the stars up front, but a 21 second gap at Jungle Run with 6/7 close behind.
8
After taking 3rd at Trzaskoma, Tabor stepped up at FNL with Whitworth stepped up as their #1. Will look for improvement at 5 still, but strong day from the Spartans.
9
Beat Tabor in a 2 Mile at Trzaskoma, 9 points behind West Forsyth without their #2. If the Raiders bring back Cooper in November they could challenge for the podium.
10
The Panthers have a good top 4, but lack a 5th. They have the talent in Hu and Noon if they can step up this fall.
11
Strong freshman twins as their 2/3 in the Patterson'sl Have a sold 2-5 pack, but need that pack to move up further in a big field.
12
Adding Alder up front is massive for this team. Have a solid 1-3, but will look for improvement from 4/5 this week.
13
A team we underrated in the preseason. Need some improvement from their 4th and 5th
14
Missing a few of their top returners, but Catholic has proven to be strong regardless.
15
It's going to take some time for this young team to progress. A lot of girls that swim or do other sports in the summer, but things come together in October for them normally.
15
Have strong frontrunner in Peters, need Ammons to combine as a 1-2 punch later in the year.
17
Missing a 4th and 5th. 2:48 gap from #1 through #5 hurt them at FNL. Confident the Cougars improve as the season goes on.
18
Won at Knight's last weekend which seems to be slower than FNL. Need their 5 to be closer to their 2-4 pack.
19
Very impressive times even if it was a fast course at Royals Twilight. We'll see how the Mustangs stack up against a strong adidas field this weekend.
20
Beat Hoggard at Jungle Run. Kodi Payne has stepped up and joined Faith Roy as their frontrunner.
21
No Lia Lathan and Athina Zodl so far in a 5K debut. Should see Zodl this weekend at adidas, but another team that could surpirse if they put things together in October.
22
The top 2 of McDonnell and Zimmerman are legit, but the gap to their 3 then to their 4/5 needs to improve if they're going to challenge the 4A West.
23
At about where we though they'd be coming into the year lead by the Cronks up front. Lack depth at 4/5
24
Small 2A school has been strong early on tis year. 2 time defending champs looking to repeat their 2A title with impressive performances on slower courses.
25
Adding a strong freshman in Fleming-Hickey helps big time, but will look for their 4/5 to be closer to their top 3. Looks to have had an off day at FNL, we'll see if they bounce back at adidas.
