Boys 3200
Chad Stirling (Charlotte Catholic) has been on fire this season running a new 1600 PR of 4:22 and grabbing a win in the 1600 at Hawk Invitational last weekend. Stirling has a 3200 PR of 9:42, but I think he certainly has a lot of room to improve on that. Noah Dolhare (Providence Day) will be the favorite coming in as he has a PR of 9:21 in the 3200. Dolhare is fit and ran a 4:23.63 for the full Mile last week at Raleigh Relays, which converts to a new 1600 PR. Landon Maxwell (East Gaston) is certainly a dark horse and very well could win this race. Maxwell was fit this indoor season running a 9:37 3200, but came up with the flu the week of the indoor state meet. Joel Shores (Southeast Guilford) is an 800/1600 runner, but will test his strength in the 3200. Shores is a competitor and will certainly not give up on the win without a fight.
Girls 100m Dash
Compare Athletes - Amaya Gaddy and Olivia Hee
Amaya Gaddy (Mallard Creek) sits at NC#3 under FAT timing after her win at Hawk Invitational last week in 12.17. She will go up against 400 specialist Aaliyah Burton (Grimsley), Olivia Hee (Providence Day), who sits at NC#8 in the event, and 200 star Kiya Oviosun (Southeast Guilford). Hee beat Gaddy at Marvin Ridge where she ran a new PR of 12.29. Burton Oviosun holds a 100 PR of 12.22 and Burton a 12.32 from a year ago.
Boys 100m Dash
Compare Athletes - Brenton Ervin and Ahmad Ellis
Brenton Ervin (Mallard Creek) has run 3 100s in his high school career, and holds a PR of 10.97. This should continue to fall as the season goes on. He scored a big win at Marvin Ridge over a lot of guys who have run faster than that in better conditions. Ahmad Ellis (Berry Academy) was very strong this indoor season taking 6th in the 55m Dash at the 4A State Championships. The junior certainly has a fast FAT 100 time coming his way. Anthony Neal (Southeast Guilford) has a 10.75 under his belt and currently sits NC#1 with that mark. But Neal has failed to break 11 in his other races since. Dewayne Crossen (Dudley) ran a 10.75 last season and will look to clock a fast time under his first FAT 100 this outdoor season.
Girls 4x100
Mallard Creek girls always seem to impress when it comes down to the sprint relays. We've seen them dominate their competition a few times in this event so far this season. Butler, North Mecklenburg, and Southeast Guilford will look to challenge them tomorrow.
Girls DMR
Myers Park and Providence will match up where it will likely come down to an anchor leg between Providence's Lindsay Lanier and Myers Park's Kate Eiselt. Though we don't know for sure who will run on the relays and which leg until they're on the line.
Boys DMR
Providence come in as the favorite with (likely) a strong anchor leg of Hayden Blalock looking to hold off Myers Park and Page. But Myers Park's Marshall Williamson isn't one to sleep on if he's in contention with Providence's anchor leg. Page could have Raleigh Relay's 3200 champion Ian Shanklin on anchor leg who can certainly run faster than his PR of 4:22. Providence Day, Southeast Guilford and Charlotte Catholic also can be in contention if they're running their top teams.
Girls 1600
Compare Athletes - Kate Eiselt and Holly Bailey
Kate Eiselt (Myers Park) will come in as the favorite and has clocked 5:05 for the full Mile indoors. Eiselt is certainly capable of running a sub 5 mark if she's in the right race this outdoor season. Holly Bailey (Lake Norman) is schedule to race, but we haven't seen her this outdoor season yet other than a few dual/tri meets, even though she's been entered in races. Shelby Foreman (Ardrey Kell), Emma Georges (Charlotte Catholic) and Bella Zimmerman (Hough) will also be looking to run a a fast mark in this one and will challenge the 5:20 mark.
Boys 1600
Compare Athletes- Hayden Blalock and Evan Harris
Evan Harris (Lake Norman) will look to break 4:20 after running an impressive 4:21 at Marvin Ridge two weeks ago. Daniel Hurran (Broome, SC), Hayden Blalock (Providence) and Ethan Bemis (Northwest Cabarrus) will look to challenge Harris. Blalock ran 4:25 indoors and will give Harris a run for his money. Thought Harris comes in as the favorite, he has only beaten Blalock once in thirteen races over their high school careers. Someone to watch who might not win is Adam Habas, a freshman out of Providence Day who has run 4:34 this outdoor season. Habas is currently the top freshman in NC in the 800 and 1600.
Boys Pole Vault
Compare Athletes - Seth Rabinowitz and John Lehe
Some of the best vaulters in NC will match up once again with Seth Rabinowitz (Providence), Ben Nason (Providence Day) and John Lehe (Lake Norman). Rabinowitz currently is tied for NC#2 at 14-0 with Lehe and Nason at NC#7 at 13-6.
