Both Broughton and Green Hope hold a great chance of advancing to Nike Cross Nationals by placing in the top 2 at NXN Southeast next Saturday. Green Hope ranks 3rd in the region while Broughton is just behind in 5th. Dating back to 2011 a national birth has seemed to narrowly evade Broughton and other strong NC boys programs. Just last year Weddington scored 196 points to finish 3rd with Broughton just one point behind in 4th. 2nd place was just 5 points ahead of the Warriors and a trip to Portland.
Cardinal Gibbons sits in 11th on the team rankings, but we aren't sure if they'll decide to run at Footlocker South of NXNSE quite yet. But after finishing just a handful of points off of Broughton and Green Hope at the state meet you cannot count them out of being contenders for an NXN birth.
