As we continue to work our way through championship meet results this next week, it's also a great time to compare the overall strength of each conference. We do this by looking at the state-wide rankings for each classification, then scoring the conferences by the places of their teams. For example, the top team in 3A scores 1 point for its conference, the #2 team scores 2 points, and so on. I totaled these for both girls and boys, scoring the top 3 teams for each conference, and then added the separate genders to get an overall total. Then, the conferences with the lowest scores for each classification were thrown together into the overall conference rankings! This doesn't mean that a 2A conference can "beat" a 3A conference - instead, it means that a 2A conference can be more competitive in 2A than the 3A conference is in 3A.
