The Votes Are in! Performance of the Week Goes to...

For the Week 7 Performance of the Week poll, we highlighted ten strong performances from the week's premier event: The NC Runners Cross Country Invitational. With five top performers for both boys and girls, we collected a grand total of over five-thousand votes. The result? Unanimity was not in this week's vocabulary... This just goes to show that there were so many great races that the choice wasn't an easy one.

Male Performance of the Week

There were two team performances on this week's boys' ballot: Weddington's Championship squad, and Green Hope's Frosh/Soph squad. Both teams ran hard and scored low to secure votes from an NC Runners staff member. The other votes? The fans (and Jentzen) seemed to have a high level of appreciation for John Tatter's win in the Frosh/Soph race in a time that was faster than the winning invitational time. To add to this great appreciation, the RJ Reynolds team had a bit of a registration mishap, and ended up having to scramble to find alternative singlets in order to run unattached...talk about an added race-day stressor!

The Fan Pick: John Tatter, RJ Reynolds

Jason's Pick: Weddington's Championship Boys

Jentzen's Pick: John Tatter, RJ Reynolds

Coach George's Pick: Green Hope's Frosh/Soph Boys

Female Performance of the Week

In the ladies' competition, we saw Nevada Mareno repeat her win on the course from earlier in the season in a similar time, but she was not alone when all other performances are considered. In the invitational race, Izzy Evely and her teammate opened a major gap on the field, with Evely leading the way for both girls to dip into the 18's. Among other strong performances, we also saw a fresh, but deep, Providence team overpower the competition in the Frosh/Soph race. Each of these three performances received a large number of fan votes, and the NC Runners staff seemed to follow the masses.

The Fan Pick: Izzy Evely, Lake Norman Charter

Jason's Pick: Nevada Mareno, Leesville Road

Coach George's and Jentzen's Pick: Providence's Frosh/Soph Girls
