After a weekend void of premier racing - thanks to the threat of Hurricane Joaquin - our athletes will once again gather for a Saturday full of fast times. North Carolina will be well represented in both girls and boys races, and several out-of-staters will be joining as well. Are you willing to take a guess at who will go home with a win? Vote below and join us at the NCRunners Elite Cross Country Invitational to see the action live!
Individual Girls
The race for the individual girls title will feature some familiar, high-profile faces. Among the top contenders is defending state champ Elly Henes, but Henes is guaranteed to have some company up front; indoor national mile champion Nevada Mareno has shown that she's got some massive talent on the cross country course as well. Virginia sophomore Sophia Jantomaso also has lots of potential to remain with the front pack.
Individual Boys
The boys race is sure to have a solid pack of front runners, making for an exciting competition with lots of possible outcomes. Connor Lane, the only NC athlete to break 15-minutes so far this season, will lead the way for the boys going into the race. Lane will also be accompanied by the two standouts from Weddington High School, Mitchell Resor and Matthew Connor. With many other strong competitors scheduled to make an appearance on Saturday, don't be surprised to see other boys mixing things up as well.
