Week 5 Top Performance Votes Are In!

Week 5 was a rainy one, but that didn't keep athletes and fans from enjoying a weekend of stellar cross country. Boys and girls all across the state dropped PR's, with some of those times being among the season's fastest. Out of those performances came four top boys performances and four top girls performances; each of these performances were voted on and the results are in! If the pending hurricane doesn't stop Week 6 action from happening, look out for another poll on Monday!

Girls Performance of the Week

Two of the ladies in this week's poll ran big PR's. One of these ladies just so happened to run her way to the top of the leader board for NC seniors. Anna Vess' 17:50 was certainly a big performance, but the fan votes edged her out for the weekend's other PR from Miss Rebecca Kefer. Though Kefer did not win her race, her 40 second PR to run 18:34 as a sophomore did not go unnoticed.

Fan Pick: Rebecca Kefer, Northwest Guilford

Staff Pick: Anna Vess, AC Reynolds

Boys Performance of the Week

The top boys from Week 5 found themselves all within a small margin of time. With so many similar times, the selection could have easily become a difficult one. Just like the girls' side of the poll, the top pick from the fans did not come from fastest time of the weekend or even a race winner; the fans ultimately sprung for the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational's runner-up in 15:54, David Melville. The NC Runners Staff went in another direction, choosing Bo Run champion Jacob Gonzalez with his 15:46.

Fan Pick: David Melville, Northern Guilford

Staff Pick: Jacob Gonzalez, South Johnston
