Conference rankings are determined by looking at the overall team rankings for each classification, then scoring then according to which conference the teams are in. The conference with the first-place team gets 1 point, the second-place team 2 points, and so on (just like a cross country meet). This is done separately for the boys and girls rankings, and then the totals are added together (scoring 3 teams per gender per conference). Since these rankings are based on returning team rankings, these are predictions of conference strength only; we will look at the conferences again prior to our conference championship coverage late in the season.
Later this week, we will take the lowest-scoring teams in each classification (including split conferences) and assemble them into overall conference rankings!
