Teams to Watch
Cary Academy returns a young, yet experienced, top squad. The youth of the team is likely to ensure that the returners will be coming back with much stronger performances than last year's. Add to that any fresh talent, and Cary Academy will have their regional title secured. Ravenscroft School sits only a few points behind Cary Academy in the returning rankings, but fighting their way past Cary Academy may prove too challenging. Most of Ravenscroft’s scoring girls opt out of competing on the track, and missing that extra season of speed work may hold them back this cross country season. Nevertheless, they should be in good shape to claim the regional runner-up spot.
Athletes to Watch
Sarah Bodmer of Cary Academy returns as TISAC’s only girl to run under the 19-minute mark in 2014, but count on Maddy Ringenbach to accompany Bodmer in the 18’s. While Bodmer may not be the only sub-19 girl, her strong showing in the 2015 outdoor track season indicates that she’s ready to put up a strong fight to remain the region’s top dog. Teammates Emily Lane and Grace Goetz of Cary Academy could also run well, and although Lane ran 20 seconds faster than Goetz last year, Goetz was merely an eighth grader at the time; the rise in age and training experience may allow Goetz to run alongside Lane to fight for third.
