XC Preview: NCHSAA 2A By Region

Girls 2A East Region

Teams to Watch

Croatan returns the most talent from the fall, and the Cougars also had the best team 1600 results from spring track season. That a formula for being a heavy favorite! The only team that looks like they have a chance to challenge the defending champions would be First Flight, the school with the top team 3200 returning squad.

Athletes to Watch

Tyler Glynn returns as the top runner for Croatan and also the defending regional champion. She held off Lexi Vukelic (Dixon) and Alex Rodman (First Flight) in that race, but Rodman had a very strong track season that shows she may have improved significantly. There were a total of 6 returning runners within 30 seconds of taking the regional win, making this one of the most competitive individual regions in the state. In addition to all that returning talent, you can add Halei Ward (Ayden-Grifton); she led the 2A East in the 3200 during track season despite not running during cross country, and if she comes out this fall she might shake things up.
