XC Preview: NCHSAA 1A By Region

Boys 1A East Region

Teams to Watch

Did we mention something about close team battles? Ocracoke had to go to the 6th runner to earn their 2014 regional title. They have all 7 runners back from that team, however, and that makes the Dolphins the favorites for 2015. Lejeune rates 2nd when you look at returning 5K times, but like their counterparts on the girls' team the Devilpups (love that mascot!) had a strong spring running the 1600. Is that enough to close the gap?

Athletes to Watch

Kevin Perez is back to defend his individual title for Ocracoke, and he hopes to improve on his 21st-place finish at the state meet. Max Moore (Lejeune) had a good spring, but watch out for rising sophomore Dominic Brooks (Camden), who didn't run in the fall but had the top 1600 and 3200 times in the region during track season.
