Frazier Adds Another All-Time State Record: NC Results from adidas Grand Prix

In addition to Ryen's second-place finish, which ranks her 10th in US history, several other NC athletes had strong performances.

The Frazier era is coming to a close, at least as far as high school competition is concerned - both sisters still have many chapters to write in their college careers. It looks like Ryen Frazier isn't done rewriting the all-time state records just yet, however. Yesterday in New York, she finished second in the Dream Mile, running 4:38.59; that converts to 4:36.97 for the 1600, which is US #2 and also the All-Time NC Record! Furthermore, the time moves her into 10th on the US All-Time list kept by Track & Field News. Frazier now owns 5 NC #1 All-Time marks: the cross country 5000, the indoor 1600, 3200, and 5000, and the outdoor 1600. Interestingly, in her post-race interview Ryen specifically mentioned running the 5K and the Two-Mile at New Balance Nationals; those are the only two distance records remaining for her to break.

Frazier was not the only NC runner to have a good day at the adidas Grand Prix yesterday. Malia Ellington also had a solid mile on Saturday, clocking a season-best 4:52.51 NC #2. In the boys' race, Philip Hall finished 7th after rallying from 10th place with one lap to go, running 4:08.80 for the full mile. His converted time of 4:07.36 ranks him NC #8 All-Time as well as US #20 this season.

In the Dream 100 races, Cravont Charleston had one of his strongest races of the season, clocking 10.68 into a slight headwind to finish 5th against a strong field. Charleston would be one of the top 20 returners in the nation, although that could change with summer track still coming. Unfortunately, Sydnei Murphy struggled to find her top gear after a solid start, running 12.18 into an even stronger wind than in the boys' race. She will have another crack at the 100 next weekend at New Balance Nationals, though, and she will also compete in the jumps there.
