NCHSAA 3A State Meet Preview

Boys Distance Races

Will Tanis Baldwin go for the triple, or will he decide to step off from one race? The East Henderson harrier can dominate the 3200, and he has run the best times in 3A this season in the 1600 and 800. In theory he can put as much energy into the 1600 and 800 as he needs to, and then run the 3200 with what he has left. With Connor Peeples (Cardinal Gibbons) opting not to pursue the 1600, and Conor Honeycutt (East Rowan) breaking out with a strong regional time, the 800 will be tough for Baldwin to win, and he might not have enough to hold off Zachary Marchinko (Carson) and Matthew Carson (Weddington) in the 8-lapper. Alex Cornwell (Hickory Ridge) and Mitchell Resor (Weddington) will keep the 5-time state champ honest in the 1600.
