Baldwin, Parkland Girls Lead NC Athletes at Arcadia

Tanis Baldwin came so close to breaking 9 minutes on a cold but humid night in Raleigh. Will the dry air of California help him get past that barrier?

In recent years, going to Arcadia has become a thing for North Carolina's top athletes and teams, and it's not hard to understand why. The meet is huge and draws national attention every year, putting it among the top 10 "must attend" meets for most fans of our sport. This year's contingent of North Carolina athletes headed out to the Greater Los Angeles area is detailed below.

Boys & Girls 3200

In many ways this has become the signature event of the meet, although there are so many loaded events it's hard to apply lesser status to any of them. For whatever reason, the boys 3200 in particular has seemed to draw top talent from around the country, and North Carolina has sent runners for several years running. This year, it will be Philip Hall (South View), Kyle Christ (West Johnston), and Tanis Baldwin (East Henderson) representing our state. Carolina Yarbrough (Page) appears to be the only NC girl entered in the 3200 this year.

Parkland Girls

The Mustangs will run the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 against some of the toughest competition they've had in the last two years, including an Oaks Christian squad that is one of the best in the country. In addition, Ebony Williams will be in the Invitational 100H and 300H, Katlin Sherman will run in the Invitational 100 and 200, and both McKinley McNeill and Erin Morrison will be in the Seeded 400 Several other Parkland girls are competing individually, as well.
