Darryl Shaw's big PR has the Jack Britt senior highly ranked, one of several North Carolina athletes that stack up well against the nation's "power states."
These rankings were created by compiling each state's top performance in every event (except the triple jump, which is not contested in Utah). The athletes were then given points according to where they rank. At this early point in the season, only 22 states have had meaningful outdoor track meets - which means the rankings will grow as the spring progresses.
